Overview of refurbishment
Previous Use: Non Trading Hotels
New Use: 1 x one bed and 10 x two bed
Contractor: D Y Developments Ltd
Prior to Lumen Housing purchasing the property it was an empty, derelict non-trading hotel that we sought to transform it into 13, high quality self-contained apartments, offering spacious and modern living spaces.
The design stage set challenging targets to meet, our goal was to retain the original character of the building and at the same time include a modern façade. The ground floor bay window was originally a shop entrance dating back to the early 1900’s, so we kept the original metal supporting pillars that were situated just behind the bay. All materials used to construct the ground floor bay window are new and in keeping with the original stonework and design which has enhanced the character of the ground floor apartment.
We have refurbished the property to meet and in most cases exceed the current Building Standards and Regulations, paying close attention to fire and insulation Regulations. This development offers a safe and secure living space.
The property took 52 weeks to refurbish and was completed on time and on budget.
